Of course, most trainers are “waiting” for Hong Kong International Race Day to be in the limelight with their runners.
And though the next few race meetings are good “curtain raisers” for the big day, there are still races to be run and winners to be had.
We know that Caspar Fownes will have a few “good ones” going around during International Day.
Having said this, he will not be sitting around twiddling his thumbs.
Known as “The King Of The Valley” due to his incredible success rate at this track, the very popular young trainer has been scoring well at Shatin.
It’s given him something new to dance about.
On Sunday, he has four runners and all have win/place chances.
Green Zone which raced in Australia as Sparkle and where its regular jockey was Tye Angland returns to the all-weather track.
The horse was found for Fownes by Aussie jockey Neil Paine who made a memorable appearance at a Happy Wednesday a few months ago.
We captured his immortal appearance at Happy Valley.

As for Green Zone, the last time it did- and when ridden by Olivier Doleuze who seems to ride best on this type of track- it won like a good thing and gave Hong Kong’ Sam The Tailor- owner Manu Melwani- his first winner in over a decade.
Manu backed this up on Wednesday when his other horse- Potential and also trained by Fownes- greeting the judges.
Now that Green Zone has acclimatized and settled into Hong Kong, we cannot see why it shouldn’t repeat its success.
Another Caspar Fownes runner going around in another all-weather race with a reasonable win/place chance is Track Lightning.
We doubt it will win, but it can place.
A tip: Watch out for two of Tony Cruz runners as we hear they have been set for their races.
Also, as always, Douglas Whyte will be amongst the winners.
And now that he is back on Ambitious Dragon, there’s a new spring in the champion jockey’s step and has some outstanding chances.
He will take off where he left off on Wednesday- and when he rode a treble.
