Sometimes we expect too much from him.
On Thursday, for example, many of us expected Douglas Whyte to rack up his hundred winners for the season. But on a lightning fast track, this was not to be and Whyte drew a blank. That’s racing.

On Sunday, he goes to Shatin with another excellent book of rides.
Being who he is, he can pick and choose what he wants to ride and anyone in his place would do the same. That, too, is racing and the difference between being a winner and a loser.
For example, despite his great record on John Moore’s Secret Sham, on Sunday, the champ has decided to ride Dennis Yip’s ALL YOU WISH instead when they clash in the same race.
With Yip still leading the trainers table, and John Size, Whyte’s main supporter, still in the hunt for the premiership but probably facing quite a task after drawing a blank on Thursday at the Valley, one has to credit this incredible athlete for not playing favorites and simply out there to be on the best winning chances offered to him.
