If horses can be rated “World’s Best”, why not jockeys?
Sure, it’s a tough one to “rate” or judge” and everyone will have their own opinions, but it’s an interesting morsel for some food for thought.
Can one “judge” or compare the incredible skills of Hong Kong-based Douglas Whyte against the skills of Damien Oliver who is suddenly riding with all his former brilliance.
And then, can we compare “Ollie” with the savoire faire of Gerard Mosse.
Or can we compare Le Grand Swordsman with all the tenacity and skill of South African Felix Coetzee?
And where do those “old fellas” Frankie Dettori and Kieran Fallon fit in as they are hardly “past it”?
How does anyone compare anyone with those two whizz kids riding for Andre Fabre- Maxime Guyon and Mikael Barzalona? And then there’s New Zealand’s young gun firing on all cylinders- James McDonald.
If you had to create a team of the best jockeys in the world, who would be in it- and why?
And would captain or lead the team?
