We kept hearing that “Parlez Parlez” was winning race 8 at Shatin on Sunday.
We reached for our racing books and noticed a horse named Palepale.
So, while some called it Parlez Parlez, others called it Palepale- as in, “What you wantum, Pale Face?”
We asked the horse’s trainer David Ferraris how the hell it should be pronounced.
According to The Hoarse Whisperer, it’s a Hawaiian greeting and which should be pronounced as “parlay parlay.”
Okay, so much for all that parlez-vous merde.
In the meantime, we wait with great trepidation to see if someone we know has the name he has picked for his horse is approved by the HKJC: Woody Pecker.
