What happens when four CEOs of four different companies get together with the Ryan Seacrest of Asia?
You come up with Uranus.
Tomorrow – at the first Happy Wednesday of the new Hong Kong racing season – Uranus will be plugged and certifiably lethal.
Yes, Ed Bean on guitar and open-necked shirt showing much greying chest hair, the snake – like moves of singer William Pfeiffer, minimalist bass guitarist Jasper Donat, lead guitarist Craig Leeson and Dom Lau on drums, will not exactly be Rockin’ the Kasbah, but they will be rocking out as Uranus at the Happy Valley Racecourse.
With races to be run and ensuring that the horses don’t get too spooked by all the LOUD ‘live’ music, the band will, alas, be restricted to performing two songs, though their enthusiasm will permeate throughout the entire evening.
What will they perform?
With an EP panned to be recorded and released soon, we can only imagine that these will be two originals though one Rock classic will go down a treat with not only the band’s groupies and fans, but also the regular Happy Wednesday crowd made up of locals, tourists and all who like beer, burgers, kebabs, ‘live’ music and the best horse racing in the world.
There’ll also be music from Adrenaline, the Happy Wednesday resident band led by Saxophonist Blaine Whittaker and the edgy and very melodic sounds of The Weathering comprising the very gifted Jeff and Leora Caylor.
So, there’ll be good time Rock’n Roll, something slightly edgy and melodic and some familiar “Party On, Dude” sounds.
A good time will be had by all.
