THE LIFE AND TRAVELS OF BEN (SEMMENS)

We have been fans of singer-songwriter Ben Semmens since the first time we heard his song “Constant Dream”.

That voice.

Those lyrics.

That melody.

We then heard some of his other originals and thought, Jeez, what does this guy have to do to be a hit?

He makes the likes of James Blunt sound like absolute shit.

What to do?

Probably leave Wales and start playing the States.

Nothing against Wales, but the only artists from Wales we know of are Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Tom Jones and the brilliant Rory Gallagher.

And how long ago since they happened?

So, what happened last month was that Ben left Wales … for the first time in his life.

He even got himself a passport and got to see the inside of a plane.

And where did he go?

Hell, if you’re going to leave Wales, why not go all the way to Georgia?

To be precise, Cumberland Island, Georgia.

When there, why not record with Producer-Arranger-Musician Ben Thomas who has worked with the entire Taylor family- James, Carly and Ben Taylor.

And David Bowie.

Recorded have been a stack of new music.

The new record – the first in over two years – will be ready by Christmas.
