THE HAPPY WEDNESDAY ADRENALINE RUSH

It was the Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” mixed with whatever the hell you wanted.

It was The Marx Brother’ “A Day At The Races” and the incredibly underrated Joe Pytka-directed “Let It Ride.”

It was the final Happy Wednesday of the racing season at Happy Valley and we celebrated like it was “1999.”

The thing was that it was 2012, and we let it ride.

We’re gonna remake this movie.

For those who know all too well that all those clubs down Wyndham Street are full of “dudes and dudettes” looking for “lurve” in all the wrong places and being sad voyeurs of life slipping by, well, Adrenaline was the place to be.

Who would have thought that a club at Happy Valley Racecourse would b SRO- Standing Room Only?

Who would have thought that it would attract more movers and shakers than Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels?

Damn, they were a great band!

It was all there, baby: Great ‘live’ music, DJ Aldo though we kept calling him “DJ Elmo” as in “Sesame Street” and some of the finest and hottest women around. The men weren’t too bad either.

To all the jockeys who promised and never showed up, your loss and elephants have very long memories: Never make promises you cannot keep ‘cos it will bite you on your ass.

If the Club’s CEO can make the time to come down, why act like prima donnas? Knobs!

To those who extended their apologies well in advance- Dougie Whyte who didn’t ride last night ‘cos of an injury to his arm- Zac “Attack” Purton- we doff our hats to you, mates.

To David Ferraris and new boy Craig “Melting” Benton who’ll be a huge asset to the HKJC and all the apprentices, glad you could make it:

You now know who and what Adrenaline is about.

Sorry, “Darth”, but the jowls are making you look like Patrick McKnee from “The Avengers.” Great hair, however.

To all the newbies to the sport who won, there’s plenty more where that came from and, thank gawd, you now know what a Six Up bet is and we don’t have to fill out your tickets for you.

At the end of a long night, it wasn’t about what you won- okay, we lie- it was how and where you won it.

It was, as the Beach Boys once sang, “Fun Fun Fun” and Black Eyed Peas sang “I Got A Feeling.”

A great time was had by all.

It was a night noticeably lacking in poseurs.

It was every man and woman for themselves and a great night when we all let our hair down- even though some of us might not have any hair anymore. Except for David Ferraris.

Yes, it was a Happy Wednesday and an Adrenaline Rush.

You should have been there.

FASTTRACK

The new way of looking at horse racing

The world of entertainment today is vast, it cannot be defined, it is intertwined and has become one. One cannot, for example, have music without fashion- and vice versa. Rock Stars, supermodels, actors and actresses and sports heroes have formed Mutual Admiration Societies.

On www.fasttrack.hk, you will see Who’s In, Who’s Out, What’s Hot and What’s Not- in Hong Kong and the rest of the world- in English and Chinese. It’s all ballsy stuff that breaks new ground and tells it like it is. The gloves are off.

Fast Track is the authority and driving force to steer you along the edgy road to this new world of entertainment.. Of course, there will be our opinions- off-the-wall, to-the-point and no waffle.

More important to us is what you think. Really think. Agree, disagree, or tell us to take a hike. As long as it’s a hike on the fast track of life, it doesn’t matter.
