The new way of looking at horse racing

THE GURU (13/11/11)

Tomorrow’s Shatin card is making my mouth water as it is a card made up of many horses I have been wanting to follow the next time they stepped out along with some personal favourites.

Well, that “next time” is tomorrow.

And looking at the card, I am already salivating.

John Moore’s Time After Time was given a rather “gentle” ride by the usually vigorous Darren Beadman and it steps out again in Race 10.

Of course, Longwah Rising and King Mossman, especially, will be hard to beat, but I will include this Moore runner in all bets.

Meanwhile, in the Panasonic Cup, though many will be looking at the two “Sweeties” in the race- Captain Sweet and Sweet Orange- and the continued rivalry between trainers John Moore and David Ferraris- the way in which New Vision won its last start- incredible ease- makes it hard to leave out though it is still not my favourite horse and one which I just do not think is much good.

But it keeps winning, so what do I know????

Some are telling me that the fly in the ointment just might be Kyara- the horse once with David Ferraris and then suddenly moved to the Moore yard.

When with its former trainer, it was meant to be a champion in the making.

It’s last run where it objected to the winner- Chater Mikado- was its best run for John Moore.

If “Jim Dandy” Moore has finally found the key to this horse, it could go close- though I doubt it.

Almost beating an ordinary horse like Chater Mikado is no big deal.

I cannot look beyond the two “Sweets” and New Vision.

Scarlette Camellia is another which won its last race easily.

This time, drawn wide, it might not get its own way and I prefer the chances of I Smell Money, perfectly drawn in barrier 1.

Also, with jockey Greg Cheyne having finally broken his duck and ridden a winner at two successive meetings don’t leave out his regular ride- Public Figure out of your tierces.

This is one of the very few regular rides Cheyne has and you can bet he’ll be doing his best to repay the loyalty of the owners.

Once again, Douglas Whyte looks the jockey to follow.

But, in racing, as in”cherchez la femme”, looks can be deceiving!

This is why I’ll be following and backing that great Frenchman and rider Gerard Mosse to win the Jockey Challenge.

He has a very good book of rides.

Have a great day and be a winner!

FASTTRACK

The new way of looking at horse racing

The world of entertainment today is vast, it cannot be defined, it is intertwined and has become one. One cannot, for example, have music without fashion- and vice versa. Rock Stars, supermodels, actors and actresses and sports heroes have formed Mutual Admiration Societies.

On www.fasttrack.hk, you will see Who’s In, Who’s Out, What’s Hot and What’s Not- in Hong Kong and the rest of the world- in English and Chinese. It’s all ballsy stuff that breaks new ground and tells it like it is. The gloves are off.

Fast Track is the authority and driving force to steer you along the edgy road to this new world of entertainment.. Of course, there will be our opinions- off-the-wall, to-the-point and no waffle.

More important to us is what you think. Really think. Agree, disagree, or tell us to take a hike. As long as it’s a hike on the fast track of life, it doesn’t matter.
