RIDE OF THE NIIGHT
TIM CLARK ON “RIDE THE FIRE”.
Apparently being tapped to play a hobbit in a remake of “Lord Of The Rings,” Little Timmy Clark showed what he can do when legged aboard anything with even half-a-chance.
And despite being drawn the plum barrier of one, Ride The Fire was half-a-chance and up against some horses getting rave reviews and which meant going off at 12 to 1.
“Clarky” kept to the rails and threw everything at the Caspar Fownes-trained galloper and managed to get it over the line.
Nice one, Bilbo Baggins!

JOCKEY OF THE NIGHT
ZAC PURTON
We knew that there would be a Zac Attack at Happy Valley last night- and there was.
This was Zac Purton at his best and his wins on Wind Damper and Charity First were top class rides.
If My Mate Adric had not bled in race 3, it could easily have been a four-timer for the jockey.
Prediction: The Zac Attack will forge an important relationship with trainer Dennis Yip, continue on his winning ways and be Runner Up in the Jockeys Premiership this season.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
“What’s that NOISE? It’s like we’re in the jungle!”
The HKJC’s Trackside Darren Flindell referring to the LOUD group of drummers banging away onstage at the Beer Garden.
For a minute, we thought there was a soul sacrifice taking place and they were serving up Little Timmy Clark Au Gratin.

THE “HEADMASTER WANTS TO SEE YOU” AWARD
JOCKEY BRETT PREBBLE
Why? For being called in twice by the Stewards to explain his rides aboard Danewin Tiger and Super Plus.
Danewin Tiger? Eh. But we’d keep following Super Plus, perhaps with “young” Ben So-So aboard again.

THE “WHO CARES?” AWARD
THE CSL 1010 MILLION CHALLENGE
Did anyone know- or care- that two leaders in the CSL Millions Challenge were running- and with both flopping?
Thought not.
We don’t even know how it works.

THE “MOST UNFORTUNATE NAME OF THE NIGHT” AWARD
WIND DAMPENER
It was made worse when Paddock Parade expert Jenny Chapman explained, “Wind Dampener has some serious wind problems and which isn’t good”.
Perhaps it was the Chicken Vindaloo, but wind or no wind, Wind Dampener lived up to its name, raised a leg and kept it’s rivals at bay: It won race 4.
And what a stink some made of that win. And wind.
