(BUT MIGHTY HIGH FLOPS)
The hot winning streak being enjoyed this early on in the Hong Kong season by Darren Beadman, continued at Caulfield today.
Of course, Beadman is a legend in Oz and his legion of fans – race-goers and fellow jockeys – watched in awe as he proved that a rider likes him never gets old. Only better.
Beadman turned the clock back to combine with his old mate – the legendary Bart Cummings – to take out the Sporting Ethereal Stakes on 9 to 1 shot Gliding – the fourth time he has won this race.
Three races later, he won on the 5 to 1 pop Love Conquers All with a brilliant ride.
Unfortunately, the dream of a three-timer and a win for John Moore on Mighty High never happened.
The horse led, hung out badly and finished nearly last with the Caulfield Cup won by the Craig Williams-ridden Southern Speed.
Something went very wrong with the race favourite December Draw running too badly to be true.
The horse must have gone amiss.
