The new way of looking at horse racing

TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE, MICHAEL COX!

“Name? Age? Tips?” Michael Cox hard at work.

We can only guess it was some kinda back-handed compliment which sorta imploded and went right off-course. Michael Cox, a racing writer for the SCMP, recently wrote about the success of the HKJC’s Happy Wednesday nights before lamenting that those “coming through the turnstiles” need to learn to bet and have a punt. Easier said than done, my son. This is part of an ongoing strategy, but, as with anything, it’s also something that cannot be rammed down throats.

Today’s racing newbies are like today’s music fans: they are cynical, they wish to make up their own minds and they have their own methodology for everything.

When it comes to racing, a sport which they see as a mug’s game and where “every race is fixed”, what needs to first be done is clear up this perception. It makes racing more than ugly; it makes it uncool and fugly.

How to do this? Have them come through the turnstiles-and not as a one-off occasion, something which the HKJC has been able to do far better and far more successfully than any racing club in the world.

Perhaps Coxy should move his arse outta the Beer Garden and come up to Adrenaline?

In fact, come up to the HKJC club on Wednesday week, it will open your eyes about newbies, getting them through the turnstiles, how they bet and we’ll even buy you a drink.

Being a hardcore and knowledgeable racing man who knows his horses, you can also see how you do in a tipping game by taking on our entourage of young newbie racegoers.

Deal or no deal?

Meanwhile, we’ll leave you with this piece of bizarro.

Where DOES the HKJC come up with things like these, scratch cards that won’t scratch and gifts no one wishes to give in case of ruining friendships.

ER, DOUGIE WHYTE FROM THE VALLEY OF THE TROLLS???

FASTTRACK

The new way of looking at horse racing

The world of entertainment today is vast, it cannot be defined, it is intertwined and has become one. One cannot, for example, have music without fashion- and vice versa. Rock Stars, supermodels, actors and actresses and sports heroes have formed Mutual Admiration Societies.

On www.fasttrack.hk, you will see Who’s In, Who’s Out, What’s Hot and What’s Not- in Hong Kong and the rest of the world- in English and Chinese. It’s all ballsy stuff that breaks new ground and tells it like it is. The gloves are off.

Fast Track is the authority and driving force to steer you along the edgy road to this new world of entertainment.. Of course, there will be our opinions- off-the-wall, to-the-point and no waffle.

More important to us is what you think. Really think. Agree, disagree, or tell us to take a hike. As long as it’s a hike on the fast track of life, it doesn’t matter.
