PEARL OF THE PEAK: A NEW LOW

THE DARK SIDE OF HONG KONG NIGHT LIFE 1

A NEW LOW 1

Dining up on the Peak might have been an attraction over a decade ago when The Peak Cafe and Cafe Deco were restaurants that successfully combined a spectacular view of Hong Kong with above average food, but having only been back there last night with some visitors to Hong Kong, the ill-named Pearl Of The Peak should hang its head in shame.

A NEW LOW 2

This restaurant located in the Peak Tower is an over-priced abomination and should be shamed into closing its doors and starting from scratch under a new name.

Perhaps, Swine instead of Pearl?

I’d never heard of the place, but seeing it had a 4-star rating on Google Search- this shows how easily SEO’s can create a false Google-eyed vision of everything- my guests plonked on it for dinner. Big mistake.

A NEW LOW 3

Though described as a “seafood” restaurant, totally lacking in atmosphere, it was yet another of those all-things-to-all-people mish-mash of very average steaks, risottos, a sea bass dish, South African oysters, an ordinaire wine list and a staggering $6,200 for seven people, two of whom barely ate.

Harry, have you seen these prices?

With Cafe Deco and The Peak Cafe going through the motions and tired and mediocre versions of what they once were, add The Pearl Of The Peak to showcase how standards in this area of Hong Kong have been allowed to sink to such disgraceful levels.

Never again will I even step into the Peak Tower, let alone Pearls before Swine.
