NOT SUCH A HAPPY VALLEY FOR SOME

As predicted here, both Happy Champion and Best Eleven failed to live up their last start efforts at Happy Valley last night.
Happy Champion was no match for a very good front-running ride by Darren Beadman on the Danny Shum-trained Lucky Turbo.
Drawn out wide in barrier 12- the same barrier as when it produced a barn-storming last to first effort at its last start over the same course and distance, jockey Alex Lai was planted wide and came in a disappointing sixth.
As for Best Eleven, as we warned, this was a very ordinary galloper when it raced in Sydney, and being left at the barriers did not help its chances last night.
It rattled home for fourth under its new jockey Gerard Mosse and might be one worth following over 1600 or 1800 metres at Shatin
It’s certainly no champion..
Like the failure of Lucky Follow Me which beat Best Eleven when they met at Shatin and then flopped at its first run at the Valley, both horses might be better at Shatin.
As expected, Douglas Whyte went on with his winning ways whereas Apprentice Ben So once again proved why he is the most approved young local jockey riding today.
Both rode two winners each with Whyte taking out his third Jockeys Challenge in a row.
