The new way of looking at horse racing

King’s Of The Valley & The CSL 1010 Million Challenge

Last night, the first in the series of the CSL Million Challenge got rolling and was won by Happy Yeah Yeah.

The race came and went and few seemed to care about CSL 1010.

All that mattered was who had any winning tickets on the race – just as with any race last night.

Yeah, yeah, to those who have been asking how and what this event/Challenge is, it is a nutshell, a way in which the equine King Of The Valley is crowned through a series of designated races.

It is a good little idea and one which horse owners speak to their trainers about and are very keen to see if their horses are eligible to participate in this Challenge.

Of course, as with any good idea, it must be massaged an enhanced and expanded on.

It cannot just plod along as consumers change and there is always a need for any product to appeal to a wider audience than a handful of trainers and owners.

As we have mentioned before – why not create a CSL 1010 Million Challenge which leads to naming the Kings Of The Valley when this series really hits its stride in December and culminates into the Finals in February?

This brings the human racing quotient into play – the regular jockey of the horse and the trainer.

Surely, this will hold more interest to regular and casual race-goers?

We are loathe to handing out free ideas to anyone- but if we did not think CSL 1010 has a much bigger idea than what it already has with its Million Challenge, we couldn’t give a toss.

Our mates from Oz and who bring out the highly provocative “new age racing bible” that is Racingb*tch were with us last night for the first Happy Wednesday.

While looking around all the branding for this Challenge at the Beer Garden, “So, how we get to win this million that these blokes are giving away?”

We looked at them with slack jaws.

“You don’t win, “ we replied. “It’s for certain horse owners.”

“But why is all this branding plastered all over the place if we cannot be part of it?

“Do Hong Kong race-goers care who wins it if they cannot be part of this Challenge?”

Then looking at their CLS 1010 scratch (and sniff cards), we received an unprintable earful.

We ran the Kings Of The Valley idea and which seemed to pique their interest.

“Can we bet on it as we do the Jockeys Challenge?” they asked.

Might be an idea there, Mark.

Today, we had a call from RacingB*tch asking if we had seen the CSL 1010 Million Challenge ad in the newspapers.

They called it “Bloody spooky, mates! Looks like something from f*!*ig Godfather 2 when the old film director wakes up and finds his champion horse’s head at his feet.”

We looked at it, got a little spooked, read the headline – “A Champion Always Delivers”- tried to make the tenuous link between headline and copy – and then got such a headache, we went back to bed.

The new way of looking at horse racing

The world of entertainment today is vast, it cannot be defined, it is intertwined and has become one. One cannot, for example, have music without fashion- and vice versa. Rock Stars, supermodels, actors and actresses and sports heroes have formed Mutual Admiration Societies.

On www.fasttrack.hk, you will see Who’s In, Who’s Out, What’s Hot and What’s Not- in Hong Kong and the rest of the world- in English and Chinese. It’s all ballsy stuff that breaks new ground and tells it like it is. The gloves are off.

Fast Track is the authority and driving force to steer you along the edgy road to this new world of entertainment.. Of course, there will be our opinions- off-the-wall, to-the-point and no waffle.

More important to us is what you think. Really think. Agree, disagree, or tell us to take a hike. As long as it’s a hike on the fast track of life, it doesn’t matter.
