“Ground Control to Major Tom”.
So sang David Bowie all those years ago on “Space Oddity.”
And now, this song is being turned into a book for children.
We don’t reckon that the idea of turning Bowie’s songs into books won’t end here either.
For years, there have been rumours of “Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars” being turned into a movie- starring Bowie, of course – or produced as an animated feature.
We’re tipping that it might be all these things – plus another children’s book and video game.
Only a fool will not look at the whole concept of “Ziggy” and realize that this record and concept is now more relevant than ever.
David Bowie sang about “Ch-ch-ch-changes” long before Obama promised them.
He was a chameleon and an original long before Lady Gaga cottoned on.
He made singing in a very English accent cool.
He sold David Bowie junk bonds and entered the other world of the stock market before any other musician.
He was not only “The Man Who Sold The World.”
He was the man who single-handedly re-created the music world and gave it “Ziggy”, Glam and the Thin White Duke.
The man is not only iconic, he remains a trail-blazer and the Dorian Gray of Music.
