John Moore had entered five horses, Tony Cruz had entered two and John Size had also entered two including Entrapment that was going for his ninth successive win and take out the Premier Bowl.
And though the $1.3 Entrapment ran into a few traffic jams, it never ever was “cruising” and looked a beaten horse quite a long ways out.
With Zac Purton throwing everything at Little Bridge to stave off Douglas Whyte on Entrapment, something came from last to blow them all away.
Who? Rich Unicorn – John Size’s other runner ridden by Mark Du Plessis and which came down from a 100 to 1 to 65’s and win by storming down the outside and left many punters with lock-jaw.
Though Size put on a brave front, there must have been a bitter-sweet side to this win and with Entrapment probably feeling that dreaded “second up” syndrome.
Whatever the case, it was good to see the very hard-working and under-utilised Mark Du Plessis winning this and a Cup race.
