By his own lofty standards, trainer Tony Cruz is having a somewhat quiet season.

Last year, the very popular Cruzy had the best record at Happy Valley of all trainers and Cruz Control was on fire. On Wednesday, with six runners entered.

The Year Of The Horse might give Tony Cruz some good fung shui- but don’t ever ask him to shave his head.

He has, of course, been using Matthew Chadwick as usual but also turning to the brilliant Italian Mirco Demuro and other jockeys- anyone except Aussie jockeys!

Guess this goes back to his days as an apprentice jockey and when Hong Kong racing was controlled by Aussie jockeys and trainers in Happy Valley and continued when racing began in Shatin.
