Hong Kong’s two “Sweeties” came close to running the quinella in the Panasonic Cup, but that dream 1-2 was not to be.
Noble Alpha- at very good odds- came in-between them and with the John Moore-trained Captain Sweet taking out the race.
It was Darren Beadman at his brilliant and vigorous best and with three Aussie jockeys fighting out the finish- Beadman on Captain Sweet, Prebble and Tye Angland on David Ferraris’ exciting Sweet Orange.
But take nothing at all away from Captain Sweet- a very genuine and tough horse who does not know how to get beaten.
It will be interesting to know John Moore’s plans for this horse.
Let’s just hope it doesn’t mean a trip to Australia.
Moore is a very good trainer, but his luck in taking horses to race in Australia are dismal.
Meanwhile, the horse to follow out of this race is Kyara- formerly trained by Ferraris and moved acrimoniously to the John Moore yard.
It was a huge run.
Back it the next time.
