Well, it will certainly be an interesting tactical race – Race 9 on Sunday – and with all eyes focused on the battle between five against one.
Yes, trainer John Moore has entered FIVE runners in a bid to thwart the John Size trained Entrapment from notching up nine straight wins and winning its first Group 2 race.
To be ridden by regular jockey Douglas Whyte who banged in a four-timer at Happy Valley on Wednesday, it will be interesting to see which in Moore’s “army” will play “defense” and which ones will go for the “tackle”, especially as Entrapment has drawn Barrier 1 over this 1200 metre race.
Most of Moore’s horses will have their work cut for them if Whyte decides to lead on the horse or take a sit and make his move in the home-stretch.
Frankly, we don’t like all this “team riding” stuff though someone will argue that this is not “team riding” and how “everyone is there to win.”
Yeah, pull the other one and tell us that pigs can fly with elephant ears.
John Size has done a remarkable job in getting Entrapment up and racing again.
The galloper spent more than a year on the sidelines before making a stunning return and winning the Group 3 Sha Tin Sprint Trophy on National Day in almost a canter.
How good he is we will see on Sunday where, apart from Moore’s Army of Dim Sum, Sunny King, Let Me Fight, Leading City and Final Answer, there will also be one of our favourite horses – Joy And Fun – the return of Little Bridge, the very good but injury-plagued Fair Trade and, let’s not forget Multiglory and with Tony Cruz also having California Choice entered.
Personally, being strong Size-Whyte fans, we reckon Entrapment will simply have too much class for his opposition as it heads towards tackling Group 1 company.
We hope so, anyway.
