Ricky P F Yiu came to the races at Shatin with a very strong hand.
But apart from winning the fifth on Fortune Winner which was backing up from a win last Wednesday at Happy Valley, the results were not what many who follow the stable were expecting.
In Race 8 and with Yiu having three horses plus a big plunge on one of these – Bet On Me which was backing up from last weekend – none fired.
Instead the race was won by Regency Luck trained by Tony Cruz and confidently ridden by Matthew Chadwick.
Keen Wongchoy had the race won but threw it away by going way out wide.
The hard luck story was Red Lucky Star which was bumped a few times by Terry C W Wong on Surfer Boy and never recovered after the buffeting it had to deal with.
But, at the end of the race and with it being very much a leader’s track, the best horse on the day won and with trainers Danny C S Shum and Sean Woods taking the trainers honours.
There might be a few weeks before one can yell, Go Yiu Good Thing!
