Here are Euro-Baller’s Top 5 picks for this weekend’s matches:
1. Hertha Berlin vs Augsburg (GSL, Sept 17 – 9.30pm HKT)
Hertha have made a cracking start since returning to the Bundesliga being unbeaten in their first four games.
Take the team from the Capital to beatAugsburg– a fellow-promoted team from last season.
Prediction – Hertha: Home Win
2. Bolton Wanderers vs Norwich City (EPL, Sept 17 – 10.00pm HKT)
Bolton are coming off three straight defeats.
But take a closer at who they were up against: Man City, Liverpool and then last week Man Utd.
The Norwich back four will find it hard to contain the physical “argy-bargy” assault of Kevin Davies leading the Wanderers’ attack.
Prediction – Bolton: Home Win
3. Lorient vs St Etienne (Ligue 1, Sept 18 – 1.00am HKT)
St Etienne are not the best of travellers andLorientare stringing a nice unbeaten run together.
Expect it to continue with another win.
Prediction – Lorient: Home Win
4. Ranger vs Celtic (SPL, Sept 18 – 7.30pm HKT)
Not 1/100th, let alone any chance of a quarter will be given come Sunday at Ibrox and the first episode of the Glasgow “Old Firm” Derby this SPL term.
Neither team will want to concede the city’s bragging rights at such an early stage of the season.
Expect the match to be just as tight as Rangers’ fan Hot Rod Stewart’s jeans.
Prediction – Draw
5. Lyon vs Marseille (Ligue 1, Sept 19 – 3am HKT)
A goal fest on the cards?
The last four times these two sides have met, they have netted 22 goals.
Who could forget that 5-5 thriller in 2009/10?
Whether there will be a goal frenzy or not , take Lyon to come out with all three points and extend their impressive start to their league campaign.
Prediction – Lyon: Home Win
