I would like to know how Racing Victoria could legally stand down licensed persons linked to a police investigation. Come off it, there are no charges laid, no evidence presented and no names mentioned. We all know that mud sticks and anyone who would be stood down would have to face that for the rest of their lives. The saying is oft quoted “No smoke without fire” and most people will believe that, having been stood down on the basis of being linked to an investigation, the party/ies must be guilty. What happened to “innocent until proved guilty”? It has been shown that malicious accusations and rumour have caused some members of the teaching and coaching professions to be pilloried and having to fight for their reputations, only to have it come out that the accusers lied. But there will always be that taint that “so-and-so was up on child abuse charges” long after it has been thrown out of court. I thought kangaroo courts were a thing of the past.
