DOES HK ELECTRIC HAVE A HOLE IN ITS HEAD?

As we all know by now, there are many companies with holes in their heads while Hong Kong has become the drilling capital of the world.

To quote the idiotic Sarah Palin, Drill, baby, drill.

But, for how long- and at what costs and who’s bearing these costs?

Knowing many who own restaurants and bars in Lower Elgin Street in Soho, there has now been drilling for over three months by the Hong Kong Electric Company- or, to be more precise, The Ranger of Drilling without even Tonto by his side.

So, with no supervision and probably paid by the day- and the amount of drilling- there is now three months worth of a gaping big hole close to these restaurants and bars which is a safety hazard AND a health hazard.

With this drilling started without any warning to, apparently, repair a broken cable, this hap-hazard and, well, stupid modus operandus continues at a snail’s pace with The Lone Ranger Of Drilling drilling away by his lonesome and with no end in sight.

If something like this happened in the States where they sue at the drop of a hat or even in Swingabore where sanity and sanitization go hand-in-hand, someone will be be demanding compensation and having the media involved to show the sloppiness of the company involved, the extent of gross negligence and the hazards of monopoly situations.

One hopes those at Hong Kong Electric in their ivory towers read this before it leads to serious problems and that the hole in their corporate head is fixed at the same time.
