AMAZONIA IN HK: A RIGHT S***HOLE

From the heights of a fun-tastic Happy Wednesday night at Happy Valley racecourse with great racing and the Ben Semmens Band, we, somehow, ended up in the bowels of Amazonia in Wanchai.

Why?

Some of us had never ever been there and wanted to see why it’s so damn jam-packed every night with hordes of “muscular” Nigerian hookers standing outside the entrance.

Big mistake.

Amazonia must be the tackiest, saddest, most depressing place in Hong Kong with wall-to-walk Filipina hookers of the midget variety, desperate gweilos incapable of getting laid without paying for it and a ‘live’ band doing some gawdawful covers of bands like Guns’N Roses and a singer- Filipino- on stage doing his very best Axl Rose wannabe.

It wasn’t working.

His Axl Rose was more like Axel Foley.

We watched and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as Losers Anonymous- and with some well-known Hong Kong-based executives in the drunken orgy- fist-pumping the air and with some playing air guitar.

One had to wonder, Have these people ever been to a rock concert with real rock stars or is Amazonia their Glastonbury?
